We have raised over $150,000 and had more fun than you can imagine :-)
Mark your calendars for next year – April 30th, 2016!

Check back in January for event details :-)

The Mambo Room partners with the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters (CHKD) to help children suffering from life altering diseases. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to CHKD and also fund community oriented dance programs and free dance classes for children in Hampton Roads. Donations from past Danceathons have totalled over $150,000 and directly impacted over 190,000 children. The proceeds also funded free dance classes for children in need all over Hampton Roads.

Individuals, groups, and businesses participate in “Dance for a Cause” by asking friends and family for pledges for their “dancing hours.” Individuals and teams can also raise money in creative ways such as car washes, jewelry parties, yard sales or sponsorship.

The Dance-A-Thon is very similar to a walk-a-thon. Participants raise money by dancing. Don’t know how to dance…need to brush up on some moves? No Problem! Lessons will be available throughout the day. This event is open to all who want to participate – new beginners through advanced.

Event features:

  • Dance Lessons throughout the day to include: Salsa, Kizomba, Bachata, Swing, Zumba, MixxedFit and much more!
  • Performances from local dance groups
  • DJ’s and social dancing
  • Fun contest and prizes
  • Food, drinks and snacks
  • 12 Hours of fun and dance
  • Commemorative T-shirts for participants
  • Dance social to finish out the night

Help save a child’s life!
Donations from last year’s Danceathon directly impacted 190,000 children. Our donations will help CHKD provide services to Melanie and other children suffering with cancer and life altering diseases.

Funding community oriented dance programs
In the past years the Dance-a-thon funded free hip hop classes for children helped by ForKids Inc. and free kids Zumba classes to fight childhood obesity, Parents Night Out and this year we are working with the UpCenter. The event also helped make it possible to bring world renowned instructors to Hampton Roads for special workshops and performances.

Increasing culture diversity through dance in Hampton Roads.
The Mambo Room aims to provide diverse dance programs via hosting guest instructors, dancers, and performers who travel from all over the region and the nation to provide quality instruction and dance education.
