We had an amazing record breaking year last year! We raised over $36,000 and had more fun than any year before :-) Let's do it agin!

The Dance-A-Thon is very similar to a walk-a-thon. Participants raise money by dancing. Don't know how to dance...need to brush up on some moves? No Problem! Lessons will be available throughout the day. This event is open to all who want to participate - new beginners through advanced. Do you have to dance the whole time? No, read FAQ's. Register your team today!


Options to participate:
• Create a team of 8-10 friends and find sponsors
• Donate $100 for the whole day
• Donate $10 per hour you would like to participate
• Donate $12 for last Salsa Underground social 9-1am

Dance-A-Thon will feature:

  • Dance Lessons throughout the day to include: Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Zumba, MixxedFit and much more!
  • Performances from local dance groups
  • DJ's and social dancing
  • Fun contest and prizes
  • Food, drinks and snacks
  • 12 Hours of fun and dance
  • Commemorative T-shirts for participants
  • Dance social to finish out the night

Why are we raising funds?

Help save a child's life!
Donations from last year's Danceathon directly impacted 190,000 children. Our donations will help CHKD provide services to Melanie and other children suffering with cancer and life altering diseases. More Info

Funding community oriented dance programs – In the past years the Dance-a-thon funded free hip hop classes for children helped by ForKids Inc. and free kids Zumba classes to fight childhood obesity, Parents Night Out and this year we are working with the UpCenter. The event also helped make it possible to bring world renowned instructors to Hampton Roads for special workshops and performances. More Info

Increasing culture diversity through dance in Hampton Roads. The Mambo Room aims to provide diverse dance programs via hosting guest instructors, dancers, and performers who travel
from all over the region and the nation to provide quality
instruction and dance education.
