April 21st, 2012 the Mambo Room will host its fourth annual Dance-a-thon, a 12-hour event that focuses on raising funds for a great cause, funding community oriented dance programs, and increasing culture diversity through dance in Hampton Roads. Last year we raised over $30,000 which helped CHKD change the lives of children and promoted healthy living by funding FREE Zumbatomic classes for children. Let’s do it again!
The Dance-A-Thon is very similar to a walk-a-thon. Participants raise money by dancing. Don't know how to dance...need to brush up on some moves? No Problem! Lessons will be available throughout the day. This event is open to all who want to participate - new beginners through advanced. Do you have to dance the whole time? No, read FAQ's. Register your team today!
Dance-A-Thon will feature:
Dance Lessons throughout the day to include: Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Tango (Argentine), African, Fox-trot, Swing, Hip-Hop, Bellydance, Cha-cha, Rhumba, Chicago Style Steppin' and much more!
Help save a child's life! Donations from last year's Danceathon directly impacted 190,00 children. Our donations will help CHKD provide services to Oliver and other children suffering with cancer and life altering diseases. More Info
Funding community oriented dance programs – Last year the Dance-a-thon funded a FREE Zumbatomoic (dance fitness) class for children in an effort to fight childhood obesity and support a healthy lifestyle for our youth. The class class is open to public - children 7-12 years of age. It also helped to bring world renowned instrucors to Hampton Roads for special workshops and performances.
Increasing culture diversity through dance in Hampton Roads. The Mambo Room aims to provide diverse dance programs via hosting guest instructors, dancers, and performers who travel
from all over the region and the nation to provide quality
instruction and dance education.
