Afro Cuban Workshops & Social with Guest Instructor Yudisleidy Valdes (DC)

Yudisleidy Valdes, was born in Villa Clara province in Cuba. She studied at the Samuel Feijoo School of Art, and graduated with the title of Dancer-Teacher of Afro-Cuban Dance.

In 1999, she trained Art Instructors, and in 2001 she began her career as a professional dancer in the National Folkloric Ensemble in the City of Havana. In 2006 she joined the Rumberos Group of Cuba as a solo dancer, then in 2011 she began with the dance company of Teatro América.

She emigrated to the MD/DC area in 2014 and is currently an Afro Cuban Dance teacher. She teaches in Universities, Dance Schools, and Theaters, providing workshops that focus on Cuban culture and its roots.
